Technical Project Director

Job Summary:
Marryat & Scott Egypt is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Director of Technical Project
Delivery to oversee and coordinate the complete technical execution of client projects from
post-contract signature to final installation. This role acts as the central authority for ensuring that
technical office, hardware, and installation teams are aligned and delivering on project commitments
with speed, quality, and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Kickoff & Alignment
- Lead internal project kickoff meetings involving technical, hardware, and installation teams
- Validate alignment of contracts, quotations, specifications, and IFC drawings
- Define project objectives, key deliverables, and deadlines across departments
2. Technical Submittal Oversight
- Review door and hardware submittals for completeness and consistency before the consultant submission
- Ensure submittals are packaged professionally and in line with client expectations and the project specifications
- Track consultant feedback and enforce systematic corrective actions to avoid repeated comments
3. Cross-Department Coordination
- Serve as the main liaison between technical office, hardware, and installation teams
- Ensure that project study results, fabrication orders, and installation requests are synchronized and technically complete
- Resolve conflicts arising from technical discrepancies, scope changes, or miscommunication
4. Project Timeline & Progress Control
- Own the master technical delivery schedule across departments
- Monitor progress of all technical deliverables including submittals, approvals, drawings, fabrication orders, and installations
- Ensure project milestones are met within contracted timelines and client expectations
5. Variation Management & Consultant Communication
- Lead technical evaluation of variation requests and liaise with estimation and sales for pricing
- Participate in client and consultant meetings as the senior technical authority to manage expectations and defend technical submissions
6. Performance Management & Process Improvement
- Support and mentor the Technical Office Manager and her team
- Identify workflow gaps, documentation issues, and training needs across teams
- Develop SOP enhancements and reporting dashboards to improve visibility and performance
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or Civil preferred); Master's is a plus
- Minimum 15 years of experience in technical project delivery, engineering, or construction
- Proven leadership in coordinating multidisciplinary technical teams in a manufacturing or construction context
- Deep knowledge of fire-rated door systems, hardware specifications, and project lifecycles
- Strong understanding of shop drawing development, material submittals, and consultant coordination
- Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and documentation skills
KPIs:
- First-time submittal approval rate > 85%
- Avg. CF to fabrication order lead time <= 14 days
- Hardware procurement delays < 10%
- WIR reworks due to technical/hardware misalignment < 5%
- % of projects completed within contracted duration > 90%
